UKRAINE'2009 Post-show Report On October 6 through 8, 2009, the 16th International UKRAINE’2009 Travel Market was taking place on the ground of the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv. Organizer is AUTOEXPO Ukrainian Exhibition Company. The Travel Market was staged under the auspices of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, State Tourism and SPA Department of Ukraine, Kyiv City State Administration, and Ukraine-wide Rural Green Tourism Promotion Union. International Airlines of Ukraine, KARYA TOUR UKRAINE (the official Tourism Partner), Retro FM (the official Radio Partner), TOURBUREAU (the official TV Partner), META (the official Internet Partner), and Touch POLL Ukraine (the Research Partner) took the part of the Travel Market’s partners. The International Ukraine Travel Market is a member of the International Tourism Trade Fairs Association (ITTFA) and belongs to twenty top travel events of Europe. The membership of UKRAINE Travel Market in other authoritative organizations such as UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) and АТFO (Association of Tourism Fairs Organizers) emphasizes its high status. Staged annually in springtime international UKRAINE Travel Market finds itself in the state of dynamic development in contrast to crisis phenomena observed in global and domestic economies. In times when many exhibition events either get cancelled or shortened the Travel Market obviously demonstrated full-blooded and productive activity. The main "fish" of this expo-forum and the secret of its longstanding success is a good fusion of offers from domestic leisure industry with top quality international tourism product. Such a diversity of mutually complementary instead of rival countries, destinations, routes and resorts, in particular, are the basic reason of popularity and continuous progress of this exhibition project. Having sized up the activity of tour operators in summer season, the fair displayed complete range of travel offers for winter holiday and laid a solid ground for the hot season of 2010. The 16th International Ukraine’2009 Travel Market gathered over 600 organizations and companies from 40 countries of the world. The following participating countries arranged their national setups: Dubai, Hungary, Cyprus, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Thailand, Egypt, Tunisia, Dominican Republic, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey. Sri-Lanka, Republic of South Africa and Palestine first exhibited. Traditional national display "Destination Ukraine. Enjoy and Experience" had original presentation to show the biggest and most meaningful collection of Ukrainian regions. For the first time in 2009, a community Rural Green Tourism setup was erected to unite the following popular homesteads and tourism-oriented accommodation facilities: Laguna, Ranch of Uncle Bo, The Carpathian Mountain Valleys, The Motruks Homestead, The Lost Paradise and others. Besides, executives of the following organizations were present at the booth: EU’s All-round Use of the Eurasian Steppes Project, Rural Tourism School, Tourism Rural Green Journal, Sweet-scented Oven Complex, DreamHouse Ukraine and Rural Green Tourism Promotion Union of Ukraine. A separate section of the booth displayed the Ukrainian Hospitable Homestead categorization system and the Green Homestead eco-marking system. Wide choice of popular tours as well as new tourism developments were presented by recognized Ukrainian and foreign tour operators such as CORAL TRAVEL, HAMALIA, M.I.B.С. Travel, NORD TRAVEL, NATALY TOURS, ASIA GROUP, IDRISKA TOUR, KARYA TOUR UKRAINE, OPEN UP, ANEXTOUR, ANTARES TOUR, ARTEX-94, CITA, OASIS, PEGAS TOURISTIC, UKRFERRY TOUR, RUADA, ACHA TRAVEL, FEERIE, PAN TERRA TRAVEL and others. In addition to direct tour operators, many hotels, tourist centers, SPA, pensions and other tourism-oriented organizations erected their booths at the Travel Market. The well-known IAU, Khors, AIR ARABIA, Hungarian and Turkish Airlines were among the exhibitors. Gross exhibition area was 9,300 sq. m. Chiefs of tourism industry, executives of public authorities and travel agencies of the whole country + end users – the ordinary people, who are going to experience new destinations and excursions, showed the same interest in the Travel Market. During three exhibition days, over 40 thousand people came to the Travel Market, 21 thousand of which belonged to trade visitors. Organizers provided much time for seminars and conferences. The 56 such events were held during the show. AWARDS On the last exhibition day, participating companies were given prizes and certificates at the solemn awarding ceremony. Honorary certificates of the 16th International UKRAINE’2009 Travel Market were given to: National Tourism Office, ANEXTOUR, IDRISKA TOUR, CORAL TRAVEL, MIBC TRAVEL, and FEERIE. Distinctions of the 16th International UKRAINE’2009 Travel Market were given to: POLISH TOURIST ORGANIZATION, TOURISM BOARD OF SLOVAKIA, TOURISM MALAYSIA, Tourism Board of the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow, Culture and information Board of the Embassy of Turkey in Kyiv, NATALIE TOURS, OASIS Travel Ukraine, PEGAS TOURISTIC. Special prizes of the 16th International UKRAINE’2009 Travel Market were given to: KARIA TOUR UKRAINE, TUNISIAN NATIONAL TOURISM BOARD UNDER THE EMBASSY OF TUNISIA, THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, HUNGARY TOURISM, TOURISM BOARD OF THAILAND, ASIA GROUP. Major prizes of the 16th International UKRAINE’2009 Travel Market – handmade painted eggs of decorative glass – were given to: CZECHTOURISM, MINISTRY OF TOURISM OF DOMINICAN REPIBLIC, INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES OF UKRAINE, THE EMBASSY OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF SRI-LANKA, THE EMBASSY OF SOUTH AFRICA, HAMALIA. ARRANGEMENT OF THE SHOW Traditional press center operated at the Travel Market to have 248 journalists from 197 media accredited. The 32 specialist editions exhibited with their booths. At the press center, the accredited pressmen could use computers connected to Internet. The organizers arranged a business center during the Travel Market. PUBLICITY DRIVE Started in October 2008 comprehensive publicity drive preceded the commencement of the 16th International Ukraine’2009 Travel Market. During a year, specialist tourism editions published advertising artworks. Since September 2009, Radio and TV channels started broadcasting the trailers of Ukraine’2009 Travel Market. This year, in particular, TOURBUREAU Ukrainian satellite channel translated a dedicated broadcast cycle that included presentation films of companies participating in the Travel Market. Key information and tourism portals covered the Travel Market. During a week, the Travel Market site www.ukraine-itm.com.ua had 25,240 visits.
